Maple, a hard, white wood with a homogeneous fiber, provides good strength, even for thin parts, and good color rendition.
Very little diffusion in the wood fiber.
Maple is very pleasant to pyrography (homogeneous structure; no alternation between hard and soft fibers)
The ash, a hard wood with fairly marked veins, it can be white or brown and is difficult to fire (hard wood and alternating soft and hard fiber)
Heter, a hard wood, slightly brown, sometimes with more marked brown spots.pyrography well. easily recognizable, on its face, the fibers form dots
pleasant to fire (homogeneous structure; no alternation between hard and soft fibers).
Spruce, a resinous wood from our mountains, half-hard wood with fairly marked and tight veins, does not fire well.
Basswood, a soft wood species with a homogeneous structure, making it easier to work and therefore particularly used in wood carving. Not much used for cutting, as it is too soft. It is easy to fire. A white wood without marked veins, without knots.
